FinServ was founded in 2005 while helping one of the largest and most complex funds in the world as they grew from $9 billion in AUM to over $40 billion in AUM in just three years. By building over 15 bespoke systems and integrating over 20 vendor systems for that one client our team acquired the experience and skills that have led to 11 years of helping over 30 of the top 100 hedge funds and private equity funds to success.

Our firm goal is to become the preeminent management consulting firm servicing the alternative asset management marketplace. The FinServ team brings business consulting, project management, systems development and integration experience from the world’s top consulting firms and financial services institutions. Our team has experienced the alternative asset industry from the inside, through their work with hedge funds, prime brokers, global custodians and fund administrators.

We offer extensive knowledge on best operational practices in alternative asset management, and the software and infrastructure required to achieve an opportunistic, efficient and compliant organization.

Our Management Team

Howard T. Weinstein, Managing Partner

Howard Weinstein is the founder of FinServ Consulting. He established FinServ with the mission to provide alternative asset management firms with the most advanced systems, best practices insight and a structured, methodological approach to operational and systems development.

Throughout his career, Mr. Weinstein has provided consulting, systems, processes and infrastructures to some of the world’s top alternative asset managers. Through his deep relationships with these firms and their C-level executives, Mr. Weinstein has developed a strong understanding of how technology can enhance an investment management organization. He has nearly two decades of experience providing business process and technology consulting to the financial services industry, with a focus on building scalable, first-class operating environments.

Prior to establishing FinServ, Mr. Weinstein served as a Managing Director for MPI Professionals, a financial services consulting and integration firm, and as Senior Manager at BearingPoint, where he provided business and systems consulting to major investment banks and alternative asset management businesses. Earlier in his career, Mr. Weinstein was a consultant in the Performance Improvement Practice of Ernst & Young Consulting. Mr. Weinstein is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and an active participant on financial services technology steering committees. Mr. Weinstein sits on the Dean’s Advisory Board of the University of Albany’s School of Business.

Lee Schare, Partner

Lee Schare, a founding partner of FinServ Consulting is a thought leader and expert on systems and processes at Investment firms. He has spent his career providing hedge funds, private equity funds, investment banks and asset management firms with guidance and hands on expertise.

Mr. Schare has run many facets of the organization and is responsible for many internal and external activities including sales, delivery, recruiting & employee development.

Mr. Schare has a strong combination of accounting, functional and technical knowledge and has broad exposure to most vendors that interact with the alternative and traditional asset management community. He has over 20 years of experience as a controller and as a technology professional specializing in large-scale systems. He has a certification in Advent Geneva and SAP. Prior to establishing FinServ, Mr. Schare was a Director for MPI Professionals, a financial services IT consulting firm, and a Vice President in Deutsche Bank’s CFO organization, where he project-managed a global general ledger project. Earlier in his career, Mr. Schare worked as a Manager for Ernst & Young (E&Y), where he led large teams within their SAP practice.

Prior to working for E&Y, he was a senior consultant at Andersen Consulting, working on projects across multiple industries. His strengths include providing strategic direction and project management for enterprise resource planning initiatives, as well as front-office and operational systems integration.

Todd Piskadlo, Senior Manager

Todd Piskadlo leads FinServ Consulting ‘s Front Office consulting practice. He has 15 years experience in financial services, focused in finance, operations, accounting and project management, with particular emphasis on the front office and compliance.

His background includes equity and fixed income sales and trading, corporate and public finance, equity and credit derivatives, treasury and global credit. Mr. Piskadlo has worked with multi-billion-dollar hedge funds implementing execution management systems, P&L platforms, investment databases, document management systems and other key systems.

Prior to joining FinServ Consulting, he spent a decade at Bear Stearns, as an Operations and Finance Director on the International Equity Sales & Trading Desk, and as an accountant and auditor in the Internal Audit Group, where he conducted reviews to ensure the firm’s domestic and international offices were operationally sound and compliant. Prior to working at Bear, Mr. Piskadlo served as a consultant with Bearing Point’s World Class Finance Practice, formally KPMG Consulting, where he provided services to global investment banks.
